DIY Table Makeover- Thrifted Home Decor Challenge

DIY Table Makeover- Thrifted Home Decor Challenge

I am so excited to join some lovely ladies on a mission to beautify their homes at a price that can’t be beat!! With a $20 limit, had to each present a cute DIY for the home that would fool even the most decor savy soul.

I have been all about play rooms for some reason recently and I have been on the look for the perfect table. Prices for kids furniture and toys just blew me away. They are so easily damaged yet so expensive at purchase. I knew I could find a table for a lot cheaper on consignment or on a yard sale and fix it up.

I found a black table for $3 at a consignment sale and it had my name written all over it. I already had two chairs that were from my grandfather’s old church (I actually used to sit in them myself), so all I needed was to make this table work!

The first thing that I did was give it a rough sand. Then I coated the legs and sides with my favorite chalk paint! I am so obsessed with the chalky finish in classic white. Not only does it go on flawlessly, but it’s great for sanding and distressing.

After that dried came the fun part! My husband and I were given an awesome pallet to use for projects. We’ve had it for almost 2 years and could never find the right thing to use it for. *Enter this table, baby*

We simply trimmed up the word and nailed it on. It literally could not have been easier. I hope you are as excited with the transformation as I am!! It is the cutest thing in the world!

With the paint included, my total budget for this was $9!! I mean come on! It sure beats the $150 one from Pottery Barn…

Also, if you push the budget a little bit, this can easily be done on a large scale. I just recently used this spray paint on an entryway table and it totally changed it! Add a little bit a wood to the top, and you got yourself the cutest farmhouse table!

Thank you guys so much for joining me on this fun challenge! Let me know what you think below! And when you’re done here swing by to the next blog and check out their awesome money saving DIY decor!

  • This is an awesome idea because most of the time kids furniture can look gaudy or cheap but you have made it beautiful! I love how it ties in with your furniture and that they get to use chairs that you used when you were little, that’s so special! Thanks for the awesome idea!

  • I love adding barn wood to projects. It gives them such a homey feel and warms up the space! Spray paint can work magic, and I love the idea of doing this on a large scale! Thanks for the inspiration and I’ll be pinning it for later!
